An event to help raise awareness for domestic violence
Domestic Violence affects 1 in 4 women in her lifetime - that is more women than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined. Most people think only of physical abuse when they consider domestic violence, yet financial abuse happens in 99% of all domestic violence cases.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) this October, Shelter House invites you to attend an evening full of great food, fun and raffle prizes at our Unmask Domestic Violence event to help raise further awareness.
In addition to the event, we also invite you to honor DVAM throughout the month by wearing purple, as this color symbolizes peace, courage, survival, honor and dedication to ending domestic violence.
Together, we can play an important role in honoring the accomplishments made by showing our support for the victims and survivors.
